Summer Bread 1st Post!

Summer! 6/20/13

Summer is such a spectacular time.  Not a lot of HURRY, HURRY, HURRY, RUSH, RUSH, RUSH. I love the fact that I actually have time to really think about things. I mean actually sleep, dream, and process thing in my life. On that note I have been trying to figure out how to make things easier during the school year.  What tips and tricks could I use to make my life, well easy? EASIER? Also it has given me lots of time to contemplate the things I have not achieved.  This has ended up being kind of a bummer but what I am finding is solutions.  How can I create solutions to get some simple things and make life well DIFFERENT?

Lately, I have been trying to make my Grandmother York’s Bread recipe.  It has been a disaster!  But I will not give up, because I will not be conquered but a loaf or two of bread.  I will win; I will learn to bake bread. If not this recipe then one that I can call my own.

I have also decided that there are certain things a good Southern Indiana woman should know how to do.  Making bread is one of them. I know this sounds old fashioned but I like all of that old fashioned stuff.  Making bread, having a garden, canning, it makes me slow down and be self-sufficient.  It also think that it will help me eat better in this process food society. Yes, yesterday my new boss asked me, “How can you be a professional in the 21st century and not check your e-mail daily?” I laughed and told him I hated e-mail, which I do but love texting. I then promised to start checking it daily. Hoo-rah. So now I plan to set aside ½ hour a day to check all e-mail outlets. Work will be first and most important then the other ones.  Getting back to summer, I told him I would only check it every few days this time a year for a little freedom.  Summer is so wonderful but I guess if we had it all of the time it would not be as fun. Naaah, I could find great things to do year round if I had paycheck and summer weather.
